;Kyle Busch will wear dual hats this Friday at Daytona International Speedway as he gets back behind the wheel of the Kyle Busch Motorsports #54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry for the Nationwide Series Subway Jalapeno 250.
Busch won the Daytona Nationwide Series in July 2007, then went back to victory lane one year later in the Sprint Cup Series race. This year’s KBM Nationwide Series debut at Daytona in February was going smoothly until the last lap, when Busch went from contender to DNF; in the series’ other restrictor plate race at Talladega, Busch finished second to his former NNS ride, the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota with Joey Logano behind the wheel.
“When we came here in February, it was about seeing what the team had, how our equipment had been built and whether we would be competitive,” said Busch recently on the KBM website. “Although not the finish we hoped for, the February event showed us we can be there at the end and be battling for the win. That was 15 weeks ago now and we certainly have proven that we are growing and becoming stronger with each track we go to. I was close to the win at Talladega and Joey got me there at the line.”
