NBA Slam Dunk Contest 2012: Jeremy Evans Wins Disastrous Event

Photo: Lynne Sladky / AP Utah's Jeremy Evans won the Slam Dunk Contest at the NBA's All-Star Saturday night festivities.

Evans, who got into the competition as a replacement for injured New York guard Iman Shumpert, earned 29 percent of 3 million text message votes cast by fans.

This was the first year that fans had total control of voting, a major tweak from past competitions.Words and elbows have been exchanged. Lobs and barbs tossed about, on and off the court.

Technical fouls, challenges and a lot of hype have abounded when L.A.'s two professional basketball teams have met this season.
The NBA tried a new format and brought in new faces for the dunk contest this year. Jeremy Evans took the win, thanks to a fan vote.
