Stoke City 0-1 Valencia | Amazing goal by Mehmet Topal

;Mehmet Topal scores an absolute screamer past Thomas Sorensen as Valencia beat Stoke City 1-0 at the Britannia Stadium. Stoke City 0-1 Valencia. Mehmet Topal beauty. Stoke City vs Valencia (0-1). Valencia win.Stoke welcomed Los Che to the Britannina Stadium for their first experience of European knockout stages but could not make the most of their home advantage.
It was a typically fiery atmosphere on the potteries and the home fans were almost handed a dream start when Jonathan Walters dragged a shot wide inside the opening minute.
Walters could not convert Rory Delap's throw with a diving header 14 minutes later and the 3rd placed La Liga side then began to dictate the game with Brazlian striker Jonas forcing a fine stop out of Asmir Begovic from the edge of the box.
Tony Pulis was furious when his penalty appeals were turned down on the half hour mark. Peter Crouch was brought down inside the box as he attempted to latch onto another trademark Delap throw but the referee saw nothing wrong with Bruno Saltor's challenge.
